After hundreds of hours and dozens of meetings and discussions over an entire year, it’s finally here….
…The second in a series of white papers prepared by a few of us from the ASTM E1527-21 Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) Task Group historical resources focus group:
“Historical Aerial Photography Research – A White Paper”
Following the success of the City Directories white paper published in March 2023, this second white paper describes the history, research fundamentals, data provider considerations, and report preparation considerations of historical aerial photography research.
As stated by Julie Kilgore, ASTM E1527-21 Phase I ESA Task Group Chair:
This valuable and informative resource has wide applicability to the environmental due diligence industry, for both seasoned practitioners seeking insight from the Task Group’s industry outreach effort, as well as less experienced assessors who will benefit from this detailed guidance.
Review and incorporation of the optional guidance provided in this white paper will aid in achieving the objective of good commercial and customary practice in quality Phase I ESAs conducted to meet ASTM E1527-21, as well as assessments of forestland and agricultural properties under ASTM E2247-23.
As always, my sincere thanks and appreciation to all my teammates on this project including Hank Burnham, CEO at Property Archives; David Hodnefield, President at Historical Information Gatherers; Jared Schneekloth, Content Manager; Georgina Dannatt, CHMM, REPA, Environmental Risk Manager; and Elizabeth Sherwood Krol, PG, EP, MBA, CRE, Leader in Commercial and Industrial Real Estate Risk Assessment. Thank you also to Julie H. Kilgore, Jeri Massengill, and Lizz Lagomarsino.
